Can I connect an old Panasonic PVL452D camcorder to my computer?
I have an old Panasonic PVL452D Camcorder. I'm planning on buying a 3.00 mm PC cable for it.This one: http://www.partstore.com/Part/Matsushita/Panasonic/LSJA0276/New.aspx?ModelMfgName=Matsushita&ModelBrandName=Panasonic&ModelNumber=PVL452D
Since it's old, would I be able to connect it to my 2005 eMachines W3410 computer?

1. The Panasonic PVL452D camcorder is VHS-C and records analog information to those tapes. In case you need the manual:

As with all analog camcorders, you will need to get an "analog/digital converter" to get that video from the camcorder to the tape.
Connect the camcorder to the A/D converter with the same AV cable you would use to connect to a TV for playback - see page 21 in the manual. But instead of connecting to the TV, connect to the A/D converter. Then, the A/D converter connects to the computer.
Pinnacle makes the Dazzle and Roxio has one... both are connected to the computer using USB. If your computer has a Firewire/IEEE1394/i.LINK port, Canopus makes a line of A/D converters - the ADVC55 and ADVC110 are the entry level models.
2. *If you have an analog (VHS) camcorder… or VHS-c...
You need an analog converter, either internal card or external such as the dazzle. It's very easy to use and come with good software. You would hook your analog VHS camera or VCR to the analog converter, the dazzle and then hook the dazzle to your PC. The dazzle cost around 85.00 , but worth the money if you have a lot of VHS to tapes to convert.
Anytime you convert analog to digital, you will lose quality, but loss of quality is better than losing all those old memories.
**Please Note There is no 8mm or Hi 8 to VHS Adapter that currently exists. This type of VHS Adapter only exists with VHS-C tape
