how do you get videos from panasonic camcorder into a pc computer?

My friends and I filmed videos on a PV-GS320 camcorder, which uses tapes. We want to import the videos into the computer to edit them in Windows movie maker, but when we plugged in the usb, nothing popped up. What should we do?

1. Connect DV port of the camcorder to the firewire port of the computer and import the digital video. Camcorder needs to be plugged into AC... and be in Play or VCR mode. Import using your video editor. MovieMaker "Captures" - sometimes MovieMaker has issues... try WinDV (free to download and use, no watermarks); iMovie "Imports".

USB won't work. You have discovered this on your own. USB to firewire adapter/hub/cable/converter things won't work.

Firewire, IEEE1394, DV and i.LINK are all the same thing - and they are not USB.
