Do all camcorders see infrared light, or is it just my Panasonic?

When I aim my camcorder at a remote control, I can see the light coming out of the IR emitter when I push the buttons. Is it just my Panasonic, or does your camcorder pick up infrared too?

1. Mine (Canon) picks up infrared on the "night" setting. Some cams can do it intrinsically, while others need an IR lens.
