my panasonic digital camera is recording videos very badly?

when i play the video on the camera it playes fine but when i put it on my computer and play it its very glitchy and the player keeps changing sizes and there are strange flashes of colour. the player is vlc it playes other videos fine but not from my camera, can i fix this?
