What's Better in terms of Digital Camcorders?
What's better? A Hitachi DZ-GX3100A DVD Camcorder or a Panasonic VDR-M53 DVD Camcorder?

1. i sell both of these items and i can tell you that the panasonic is like a trillion times better
2. I would not buy a DVD camcorder. The system just doesn't work reliably. Really, this kind of camcorder is a dinosaur. If you want to stick with the old reliable, go for a mini DV - but always get the extended warranty. You have to get a mid priced one (and up) or you end up with lots of motor noise on your recordings.
My personal choice is one of the new SD recorders. I bought one of the Panasonic's. Very small - no moving parts - easy to use. Got the Av 100 for $169. Of course you have to buy several SD cards, but like I said, they can't fail on a trip, and so very small - you can put it in your shirt pocket and always be ready for catching one of those fleeting moments.
I also tested the Sanyo camcorder. Very clear, but kind of quirky. Several units out there now. This format gives you an editable thumbnail, which you can shift around in the camera. Moving scenes around is handy. Also, you can delete the ones you don't like. This truly is the next wave of camcorders.
