I need a camera to skate with I like vx1000 but i wanna panasonic thats like a vx1000 for around the price.?

i'm an experienced filmer, but i'm just tired of using mini dv cammcorders or HD camcorders. i want something good. looking to spend around $1500 or a lil more

1. well, the vx1000 is a bit of a geriatric now, the closest successor to it would be a vx2100 or fx1, both of which are above your budget, and really the fx1 would be the better step up.

If you want to go down the panasonic route then you are really looking at the gs500 as the closest, though the image devices are far smaller and so the out focus areas are not as smooth.

I don't understand what you are getting at when you say you are tired of using minidv or hd? do you mean hard drive or high def?

MiniDV is still the best format at this price band, the compression system is superior to both avchd and mpeg, minidv camcorders are widely compatible with editing software, the tapes are now very cheap (and give you an archival medium)

what is it you are tired of? essentially the operations are the same, though the minidv quality is better.
