For SONY Camcorders. Is there any software that can "erase" a DVD-RW?

Apparently the NERO software that came with the camcorder "erases" the DVD, but then the DVD disc is seen as an error with the camcorder.

SONY says, you have to use the camcorder to reformat the DVDs. I have a few DVDs that are garbbage now, but still work with the PC.

There must be some software out there that can reformat a DVD to let the camcorder recognize it.

1. I use a Mac laptop to record/burn/erase DVDs got to love
Mac! .

2. the Sony will only use blank/virgin RW DVD's. It will not record over previously erased RW DVD's. I have the simular exeriences with other RW recorders and computers. Seems to be the nature of the beast. I stopped using RW all together. Not worth the extra cost with the loss rate. The cost of R media is cheap enough to toss.
