Sony or Canon digital cameras?

My birthday is coming up in November and i want a digital camera i fell in love with this pink sony camera but my friend said that sony isn't the best camera i mean its good but its not the best camera she said that canons the best. So what camera should I choose the sony camera that I love or the canon camera? Which do you like better song or canon?

by the way, this is the sony camera that i want if you have it, tell me what you think i mean do you like it, is it a good camera, does it last long?

8. That is a great casual camera, you would not be disappointed with that. (you could save up for a SLR if you really want to get into photography). Be sure you want to use Memory Sticks.

One of the reasons people don't like Sony's is because they use a proprietary memory card that only works on other Sony products. That limits people when it comes time to buy a new camera every four or five years.

Canon, Casio, Nikon, Panasonic, Pentax all use SD cards ... the most popular in compact digital cameras.

If I had to get the best camera, Canon digitals are one of THE best cameras out there.

13. Cybershots are great! I bought a 3.2 megapixel when it first came out and I'm ready to upgrade not because I'm unhappy with it, I just want something slimmer than the one I have.

16. For a easy shot, consumer type of digital camera, I think Sony or Canon will perform similar result in term of picture quality. If you are a professional photographer, Sony may not a good choice.

18. just for me, i go for canon from personal experience. they took better pictures compared to sony. i have a sony camera before and when i compared my pictures from my friend who got a canon. theirs look better when we viewed it on the computer.

your choice is really cute. i heard that particular style have a good remarks on consumer reports.

19. If you're willing to shell out $200-+ memory stick then you should do some reading on what features are important to you besides color pink. Check local library for Nov'07 issue of Consumer Reports. It's a good starting point.
In the last 11 months I bought a Sony and a Fuji. Each works flawless, and give excellent results.
To me it's like tossing a coin between Sony and Canon...both are excellent companies.
The pink Sony DSC-W55 is talked about a lot on this Website...nothing bad. But in the $200-range I believe you get a bit more for your money by buying a Canon.
A good model Canon is the A630. Very good on AA rechargeable batteries, has manual controls in addition to auto, and will give you an excellent 8X10 print.
