has anyone tried the HVL-IRM Nightshot Video Light for sony camcorders?

I would like to know if quality is clear and if it captures wide areas instead of just long narrow areas. Also can this infared light be used inside while lights are one. I was planning on getting a 3w light but i heard that lights are terrible to use because they blind the ppls eyes. I would rather use a infared light so the light would be less noticable while filming. My main concern is weather the infared light would do the same job as a regular light.

As far as I read, it only works while nightshot is being used...
