can i put a canon video lens onto a regular camera?

Hi, i have a canon camcorder, i don't know which one exact but it has a detachable lens. I tried putting it on my canon rebel xti but it it was too small. Is their some kind of adapter i can buy so i can put it on my xti?Thanks!

1. I think you can. I don't know what features you will not be able to access, but the mount is the same.

I had a Canon XL-1 and we used fixed focus Canon lenses.
