Further to my previous query re a Canon 800 camcorder?

I want to connect the Canon camcorder to my P.C. and add new clips, add music etc. I have a firewire that I used on a previous camcorder but cannot seem to find a connection on this model.

1. Add a firewire port to your computer. Firewire, i.LINK, DV and IEEE1394a are all the same thing.

If you don't want to do that and be able to transfer digital video, then you can transfer analog video if you get an analog/digital bridge from manufacturers like Pinnacle (Dazzle).

If you are referring to the ZR800's DV port, download the camcorder's manual
http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=227&modelid=14727
and refer to Page 11... the DV port is the camcorder's 4-pin firewire port.

++++++++++++

I just read your other post - If your camcorder is not a ZR800 miniDV tape based camcorder, and the camera is some sort of DVD optical disc camera that happens to take highly compressed video, there is no firewire port on the camcorder. Transfer of vide with DVD based camcorders assumes that you are expecting poor quality video and your computer has a drawer loading DVD drive.

Download and install HandBrake

Finalize the disc if needed, take it out of the camcorder, put it in the drawer loading DVD drive in your camcorder and rip the video to a format your video editor likes. The edit that converted file.
