How to put my canon camcorder tape into the computer?
My camcorder is a digital video camcorder MV530i by canon. And unfortunately i have to have a firewire on my computer [which it does not have]. I have the firewire cable BUT i don't have firewire on my computer and the only option is to buy another computer. And i don't want to buy another computer. So, could i get something that can attach to a USB portal??? or maybe another way to answer my question rather than through firewire...
thanks

1. you can buy a firewire addon card for $13, easy to install simply plug into expansion slot and load driver disk
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815124003
2. Check Out ADS DVD XPRESS, it'll allow you to connect your camera to the computer. Originally its designed to record from the TV to the computer... BUT... just hook your camera up instead of a TV. Its about 29-60 dollars somewhere in there. You can get it at walmart, usually in the CD/DVD disc aisle. But heres a website to check out what it looks like. www.adstech.com go there and check out what they have to offer, but i suggest you make an actual purchase at walmart the store... not online cause it costs more. Good Luck!!
3. Buy a firewire card! None of the USB options will have the same quality and they're more expensive!!
4. You haven't specified if your computer is a desktop or a laptop. If it's a desktop then it's relatively straight forward to buy a firewire card and install it. If you're not comfortable tinkering inside your PC's case, then you could pay your local computer store technicians to do it for you. It's an easy job, so should not cost much at all.
While it may be possible to get very cheap cards, you get what you pay for. I'd aim just a little higher to ensure that you get a quality item, which will give you less problems down the track. I once installed a very cheap USB 2 card in my old PC, and eventually had to remove it because it kept causing the computer to crash.
