San i use a Sony wide angle lens on a Canon camcorder?

I currently have a Sony Dcr-sr36 and want to buy a wide angle or fish eye lens. But i'm planning on upgrading to a canon hand held camcorder this christmas. So, can i use a Sony lense on a Canon Camcorder?

Public Comments

1. It depends on the new camcorder.

The Sony DCR-SR36 is a consumer-grade, internal hard disc drive based, standard definition, camcorder.

Check the manual:
http://pdf.crse.com/manuals/3280870111.pdf
Page 33 says the filter diameter is 30 mm. When you look for the lens you want, this is what determines what lens will fit on that SR36.

If the replacement camcorder has the same lens filter diameter, then you can use the same lens. If not, you should be able to find a "step up" or "step-down" adapter...
