Camcorders: Sony or Panasonic ? cant decide between 2 camcorders. same price. both have great reviews. however, Panasonic has greater optical zoom 30x vs 20x on its VDR-D105, whereas Sony [DCR-DVD105] appears to have better features any opinions or feedback from people who own or have had experience with would be appreciated. thank you!
Why Camcorders in Night mode they start lagging and not smooth and stable? I've owned some panasonic, canon and jvc camcorders and they all have night mode options to increase visibility in night, but they all start to lag and I've been wondering why they can't just stay smooth and stable. currently i have one of the new Jvc everio and does the same, why putting that in cameras if its going to lag, is useless. can anybody explain why this happens to camcorders when switch to night mode?
Why is the image of my Panasonic HDD camcorder worse than VHS camcorders? I just the Panasonic SDR-H60 camcorder, I read reviews about the camcorder and all reviews gave it solid reviews. Not phenomenal, but right on par with what you'd expect from a camera in this price range...the $500's. But, when I've recorded and played it back on my tv, the image is very fuzzy and pixelated...worse than the wet/crisp look of vhs camcorders of old. And I've put the recording on the best setting...XP. Why is the resolution so poor? I know it's not an HD camera, but shouldn't the image be clear and not pixelated? Is there something I can do? If not, what camera within the $500 range would you recommend that gives nice clean and crisp images? Thanks!
Can my home theater system play footage by Panasonic or Sony camcorders? I have a Philips home cinema system which, according to the catalogue, can play Mpeg2/Divx files. It plays well those Avi/wmv files, but I have never tried the mpeg2s. Now I want to buy a HDD/Flash media camcorder, either by Sony or Panasonic. I understand that you could copy the footage to a USB stick, just like any other multimedia file. If this is true, then could you pls let me know whether a home cinema system can play those files directly? Thank you.
Audio quality and recording time on Panasonic AG-DVC60 and Sony HVR-HD1000U Camcorders? I'm interested in purchasing either a Panasonic AG-DVC60 or Sony HVR-HD1000U for legal video, but reviews say audio is really bad on those camcorders. If I'm going to hook lavaliere mics to a mixer, and then connect the mixer to the camcorder, will the camcorder's mic interfere with that (lessen audio quality) in any way? Secondly, these cameras will only let me record 60 to 80 minutes before having to stop proceedings to reload the camera. Can I hook up either camera to a laptop and record directly on a hard-drive?
Question about flash memory camcorders, such as Canon HF-100 or Panasonic HDC-SD7? I want to buy a good camcorder which can offer good image as well as convenience and long time stability. Lots of people recommend flash memory based camcorders. But some people also mentioned editing will be difficult for canon HF100 or Panasonic HDC-SD9. Especially, I need a powerful computer to do it, not a normal laptop. I used to edit tape based video with laptop. It is fine. Before I purchase, I just want to know why flash memory camcorder needs more powerful computer. Question 1: Is powerful computer a must for all tapeless camcorder, such as HDD, flash memory? Or it is just because high-definition tapeless camcorder needs good computer? I notice the word "AVCHD". Does the trouble come from this guy? Question 2: Does Canon HF-100 or Panasonic HDC-SD7 offer low definition option which I can edit with slower computer? thanks a lot!
What is that thing called that is on most professional camcorders? On most professional camcorders, they have this black rim around the lense, I would assume its to omit surrounding light from entering the lenses. They have them on for example a Canon GL2 and 1. I want to know so I would be able to buy an external one to add to a Panasonic GS-500 Here is an example of what I mean. http://wize.com/photos/small/18473.jpg
Best camcorders compatible with Mac? I'm looking for a camcorder compatible with Mac; the only one advantage I can think is the ability to use iMovies to edit your clips from the camcorder. Are there any other advantages aside from this? Also, many have recommended hard-drive camcorders due to its storage capacity, but others argue that MiniDV camcorders produce much better quality? I am eyeing two camcorders: Panasonic SDR-H18 (http://reviews.cnet.com/digital-camcorders/panasonic-sdr-h18/4505-6500_7-32343416.html?ar=o&tag=pdtl-list) and Sony Handycam HDR-SR7 (http://reviews.cnet.com/digital-camcorders/sony-handycam-hdr-sr7/4505-6500_7-32427828.html?ar=o&tag=pdtl-list). I guess being able to edit video clips isn't that important to me, but I'd like my clips to be compatible to Mac to prevent more troubles in the future. I like the idea of getting a hard-drive since the storage capacity would be much bigger while at the same time, I would not want to compromise video quality. What advice would you give? Thanks!
Which camcorders do you recommend for a first time buyer? Hi, I need a camcorder for my sister's wedding to film every bit of the happiest day of her life for her, but I'm really stuck on which camcorder to buy. Well we would need something that's better and highest quality and things like that, we thought about Sony, Samsung and Panasonic are they any good especially the HD ones?
What Kind of Tape Does a Panasonic PV-GS19 Camcorder Take? My girlfriend bought one (I know nothing of camcorders and it's her first one) because she assumed she could just shoot and it would save to the SD card... but apparently not. Just wondering if anybody knew what kind of tapes these bad boys take?

Option #1 = Canon ZR900 Specs : http://reviews.cnet.com/digital-camcorders/canon-zr900-minidv-camcorder/4507-6500_7-32786404.html?tag=mncol;rnav Option #2 = Canon ZR930 Specs : http://reviews.cnet.com/digital-camcorders/canon-zr930/4507-6500_7-32786406.html?tag=mncol;rnav Option #3 = Canon ZR950 Specs : http://reviews.cnet.com/digital-camcorders/canon-zr950/4507-6500_7-32786405.html Option #4 = Panasonic PV-GS320 Specs : http://reviews.cnet.com/digital-camcorders/panasonic-pv-gs320/4507-6500_7-32330317.html?tag=mncol;psum Option #5 = Sony DCR-HC52 Specs : http://reviews.cnet.com/camcorders/sony-handycam-dcr-hc52/4507-9340_7-32775767.html?tag=mncol;rnav I'd like some sort of detailed explanation why, perhaps confidence in your answer through personal experience or knowledge. ^^ Thanks ahead of time! Hm, did you have anything to say about the 950? Is it any better or are there drawbacks to it that would make me want the 930? Also, what exactly do you think is mandatory to be added for recording outside during snow and inside during school / gym.
What type of camcorder should i get? Im looking to buy a camcorder. And im thinking to buy one at a reasonable price. Im am planning to film things. A media teacher recommended Panasonic 3CCD camcorders. But i want the video to look semi-professional. Which camcorders should i buy and how do i tell what the recording resolution is (not the still picture resolution)? Or should i get a digi cam? In that case, how do i know what resolution the recording is? I want it to look semi-professional
What's the truth about 1080p camcorders? I've heard that HD camcorders, such as Panasonic's SD9 model, don't really record (or can't play back) video in 1080p, but rather 1080i. If this is true, then why call it 1080p (progressive)?
HD Camcorders for editing? I am really into making movies. I am looking at camcorders from panasonic and sony for under or around 1000 dollars. Does anyone know of an editing software that can capture my HD videos in uncompressed format from a USB 2.0 as most all of the cameras have them. what about any camcorders with firewire? Is there any editing software that can capture HD video as uncompressed from firewire?

how to do a rack focus on camcorders like handy cam? is there anyway to do a rack focus on non-professional camcorders like Panasonic SDR-H80? it has manual focus controls. i heard that only pro camcorders can do it, i only have a handycam, but i really wanted to do it. so i wish to find a way to do it. also, i am wondering if non- professional camcorders is able to make a shallow depth of field? if yes, how do i do it? thanks alot also, i d like to ask, which consumer cam is the best for beginner film making? i have a tight budget so i dont think i can afford a pro camcorder.
What are some good mini DV camcorders? I already own a Panasonic mini DV camcorder, but it's getting old and the quality isn't great. I'm looking into buying a new camera to replace this one. It has to be compatible with iMovie HD and '08 as well as Final Cut Express or Pro? What would be a good choice? I'd like to keep the price under $200.
Which should I get for chromakey? I need a camcorder for chromakey. should I go with a camcorder with CCD3 or an HD camcorder? I heard the cannon HV20 is good. I know panasonic hd camcorders have CCD3 but no firewire output which means that it can't output video. anybody have any suggestions?
Problem with my vhs panasonic m10 camcorder!can you help?? I have one of the old professional model camcorders-its a panasonic m10-one of the larger vhs types that sits on your shoulder.I have been very happy with it,when it is working it is broadcast quality.Apparently they were used a lot in the porn industry. So its top notch really and i have no plans to replace it. The other day i decieded to clean the heads so i put in a vhs headcleaner tape that you use with some cleaning liquid.(The standard trype you would use on your vcr)But after i did this it is showing up with the dirty head indicator and it won't record now!!So i imagine the heads are in good order just dirty/clogged.I wish i hadn't bothered as it was working fine before this! The cleaning tape has been used about 20 times to think of it-could this be the problem?do i need a new cleaning tape??Please help me out with any ideas or advice thanks!!Be the way replacement is not an option!

There are three differences between the 80 and the 85: 1. 85 has a USB port, 80 does not (The 83 has one) 2. 85 has a SD card slot, 80 does not (83 ???) 3. 85 has high shutter speed control, 80 does not (83??) I am most interested in number 3

How can I get videos off my Panasonic PV-GS59 and onto my mac computer? I bought a Panasonic camcorder and was able to import videos from it onto my computer using a USB connector. Can I connect an old Panasonic PVL452D camcorder to my computer? I have an old Panasonic PVL452D Camcorder. How to get videos from my Panasonic miniDV camcorder to my computer? I bought the camera about 4 years ago, it's the little bluish-silver Panasonic miniDV. It has no memory card slot, and only takes miniDV tapes. I do see a Firewire port on the camera, an A/V output, and a port I do not recognize that is smaller than the Firewire port, it simply says DV above it. Is there any special equipment or installations that I need for my computer to be able to transfer my videos? The more detail, the better.

What camcorders are comparable to the Panasonic AG-HMC40, and how do they stack up? I am looking to purchase a Panasonic AG-HMC40 camcorder and was wondering how people felt about them and what was comparable, but still solid state recording in the 1800 dollar price range give or take 200 dollars. I like the idea of solid state because I do not enjoy using DV tape. Unless someone could talk me out of it. I would be using the camera to record documentaries, music videos, shorts, etc. at a college/semi professional level.
In camcorders, who is better? Sony, Canon, Panasonic, Samsung, or JVC? I'm pretty sure Sony, Panasonic, and Samsung all fall behind the other two. But I'm looking for a professional video camera for under 2000 dollars. It needs: good battery life magnificent quality (The HDest HD) very good quality in low light shots (dark rooms, nighttime) good memory a boom mic Auto Focus (this is less desirable than the rest) Any Other Good Functions For An Aspiring Movie Maker. I currently use a Sony Handycam, and my friend has a JVC camcorder and my other friends have Samsung. The JVC quality seems superior to Sony while Sony seems superior to Samsung. Also, these are the camcorders, not the professional video cameras like i want. Also, what do real movie crews use? Under 2500 dollars*

Is there small portable lighting for camcorders? I Have a Panasonic SDR-S7. I was wondering if their are any small light attachments that typically go above the camera (not specifically made for Panasonic) so i could use in low light situations.
Do Sharp make camcorders anymore? I always found Sharp to be the most reliable brand for camcorders (aswell as Panasonic), as they are simple, fast & easy to use. Although, many sites I go to only state camcorders from 2004, have they stopped making camcorders? Thanks.
Big difference between 17p and 24p bitrate camcorders? Just wondering if there is a noticeable difference between these two bitrates? New HD camcorders from Panasonic have only 17p while Sony has 24p. Is it a big difference in quality? Yes its for AVCHD. Is it noticeable like the other guy said?
